Ian Beard is the Adult Education, Living History, and Volunteer Coordinator at the Old State House Museum in Little Rock. He has worked at the museum since October 2003. Before that, he was a seasonal interpreter at Withrow Springs and Petit Jean State Parks, and a tour guide at the State Capitol. He grew up in Fayetteville, but has lived in Central Arkansas since attending Hendrix College. The Old State House Museum’s nearly two centuries of history allow a variety of periods to be interpreted, and his living history characters include War of 1812 veterans, governors and other assorted politicians, Mexican and Civil War soldiers, lumber barons, tavern keepers, drunks, and a variety of other Arkansas personalities.
